Wind damage roof repair addresses what high winds do to a roof specifically – lifted or missing shingles, compromised seals, and flashing that's worked loose, all of which can let water in even without any visible holes. Wind damage is often more subtle than hail or debris damage, which is why it gets missed until a leak shows up.
We get called throughout Old Lyme, CT after windstorms strong enough to lift shingle edges or tear sections loose entirely. Sometimes homeowners spot shingles in the yard after a storm and know exactly what happened. Other times it's less obvious – a shingle that's lifted but not torn off can still let water underneath, and that damage builds slowly.
We inspect the full roof surface for lifted, cracked, or missing shingles, along with checking the seal strips that hold shingles down, since wind damage often breaks that seal even when the shingle itself looks intact. Loose shingles get re-secured or replaced, and we check ridge caps and flashing points, which take the brunt of wind uplift. If the roof deck was exposed during the storm, we'll check for any water intrusion before closing everything back up.
Cost depends on how many shingles were affected and whether the wind exposed any underlying deck damage that needs addressing.
